Since moving to her home in North Carolina a few years ago, Laura and her family had been continually sick. She attributed her family's symptoms to sinus allergies, or colds her kids brought home from school. But their constant respiratory issues never seemed to go away. "The kind (of symptoms) that makes you want to take your child out of pre-school because why in the world is someone always sick in this house??" she wrote in her recent blog post. She did not consider that her family's constant allergies could be caused by mold.
Constant allergies could be caused by mold
After researching, she decided to schedule an evaluation for air duct cleaning. When AdvantaClean mold specialist and owner, Lyle Nearby investigated the problem, he discovered hidden mold growth and water damage that had gone undetected in her eight-year-old 'dream home'... She realized her family's constant allergies could be caused by mold spores affecting the indoor air quality.
Symptoms to suspect
Though many people do not consider constant allergies could be caused by mold hidden in their homes, recurring mold symptoms such as sneezing, skin irritation, watery, itching eyes, and headaches may be a cause for concern.
Advanced mold allergy symptoms such as constant fatigue and headaches, sudden asthma attacks, and chronic sinus infections like Laura's family experienced, are serious signs of early mold exposure.

Hidden Mold Growth
White mold spores were growing on the joists of the home's crawlspace. Crawlspaces commonly have higher relative humidity (RH) which is conducive to hidden mold growth, particularly if the crawlspace has a bare earth floor.
The soil will absorb and lock in, causing crawlspace moisture problems. The relative temperature of the crawlspace will dry the soil by evaporation, adding this moisture to air in the crawlspace, which can cause mold to grow.
