Do you have Renovation Plans? Don't forget Duct Cleaning!
Home Remodeling projects can ready a property for sale, add value, provide more living and storage space, and create better reflections of personal preference and style for homeowners. But renovations also create lots of dust, so if you have renovation plans don't forget to budget for duct cleaning.
When is the best time to schedule an Air Duct cleaning: before or after renovations and before or after post-renovation clean-up?
Renovations increase dust whether they include drywall sanding, demolition, or any other interior home project. Dust and debris from renovations often travel beyond the work area, and into the ductwork of a home.
Keep in mind, dust goes everywhere air flows! So, scheduling an Air Duct Cleaning post-renovation and clean-up is the most beneficial.
According to the National Air Duct Cleaner's Association (NADCA), "In a typical six-room home, up to 40 pounds of dust is created annually through everyday living." Add a renovation on top of this and the amount of dust accumulation significantly increases!

The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) advises cleaning of air ducts every 4-7 years.
When budgeting for the cost of a duct cleaning you need to determine the number of air handlers and the number of vents for your duct-work system set-up.
To determine the location of the air handler(s), think back to when you had an HVAC service company out to your home and try to recall where they spent most of their time. In the attic? Crawlspace? Utility closet? Outside? This should be a good gauge of where the unit(s) is/are located.
The areas which have a grate covering them in your home are considered vents. Return vents are typically bigger vents which circulate the cold air and relieve pressure of systems. Be sure to factor in both supply and return vents when counting the total number of vents in your home for more accurate pricing for a home duct cleaning.
