Appliances like air conditioners are an integral part of every household today. But it is worth asking how many of us actually show concern about the regular maintenance and servicing of this equipment. The fact is we don’t seem to appreciate their real value until they start to act up. This is not the way it is supposed to be.
About Condenser Coils
Generally, 2 sets of coils viz. evaporator coils and condenser coils. The evaporator coils are filled with gas and are located in the interior of an air conditioner. They extract heat and humidity from the space they are located in. As such, they dehumidify and cool the air that is circulated around. On the other hand, the condenser coils’ job is to expel the heated gas that gathers up and they are located outside. Both these coils are a critical part of a complex heating and cooling system involved in heat exchange.
Problems With Contaminated Coils
In the course of using ACs and refrigerators, certain problems often crop up. They bear the brunt of attracting harmful natural agents like dust, mold, dirt, grease, insects and microbes. These elements have a debilitating effect on system efficiency, performance and lifespan. Contaminated coils fare poorly when it comes to heat transfer, do insufficient cooling, work harder and consume more energy. The end result of all this is faster wear and tear of HVAC system, costly repairs and high energy bills. In addition to this, the indoor air quality (IAQ) is affected drastically over time.
